Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala discussed bilateral cooperation between the two countries with his Ivorian counterpart Robert Beugré Mambé in Abidjan on Friday, November 10.
“We greatly appreciate the role played by Cote d’Ivoire in maintaining security and stability in the region,” the Czech prime minister said, praising the country’s economic dynamism.
“There is enormous potential for cooperation here (…). That’s why I’m accompanied by a very large delegation of entrepreneurs, representatives of Czech companies who have come here to establish new contacts with their Ivorian counterparts,” he said.
Petr Fiala noted a “great deal of interest” on the “Ivorian side in developing cooperation in the field of agriculture and agricultural technologies” and assured that his country is also “ready to expand cooperation in the field of health.”
The Czech Republic is ready to “bring Czech doctors here or offer training to your health professionals,” added Prime Minister Petr Fiala, whose country wants to develop lasting relations with Cote d’Ivoire.
He also outlined a number of areas for cooperation, including the supply of machinery, vehicles and transport equipment – a sector in which the Czech Republic is particularly strong.
The Czech Prime Minister announced that his country has a project to supply buses to Cote d’Ivoire.
This first-ever visit by a Czech head of government to Côte d’Ivoire is part of the Czech Republic’s new strategy of cooperation with African countries.
On Friday, an Ivorian-Czech business forum was inaugurated at the Cote d’Ivoire Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the aim of strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
A large delegation of Czech businessmen is taking part in the forum.
