The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,012 new cases and 20 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Thursday.
The new cases were recorded in Cape Verde (398), Ivory Coast (83), Gambia (4), Ghana (145), Guinea-Bissau (112), Mali (90), Niger (1), Nigeria (65), Senegal (65), Sierra Leone (2) and Togo (47). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (4), Ivory Coast (2), Gambia (1), Ghana (5), Mali (7) and Senegal (1). West Africa now has 452,669 total cases, 5,965 total deaths and 422,175 total recoveries.
Nigeria (164,488) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (91,928), Ivory Coast (45,697), Senegal (39,975), Guinea (21,745), Cape Verde (21,179), Burkina Faso (13,167), Togo (12,657), Mali (13,336), Benin (7,720), Gambia (5,788), Niger (5,141), Sierra Leone (4,044), Guinea-Bissau (3,713) and Liberia (2,091).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,061) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,097), Ghana (777), Mali (451), Ivory Coast (277), Niger (191), Cape Verde (198), Gambia (171), Burkina Faso (155), Guinea (139), Togo (121), Benin (97), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (66).
Also, Nigeria (154,441) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (89,729), Ivory Coast (45,227), Senegal (38,719), Guinea (19,080), Cape Verde (18,500), Burkina Faso (12,812), Togo (10,431), Mali (7,646), Benin (7,510), Gambia (5,248), Niger (4,812), Guinea-Bissau (3,170), Sierra Leone (2,914) and Liberia (1,936).
Africa has registered 4,504,751 total cases, 119,320 total deaths and 4,025,929 total recoveries while the world has recorded 145,023,404 total cases, 3,078,626 total deaths and 123,349,702 total recoveries.
