The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,030 new cases and 13 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Thursday.
The new cases were recorded in Cape Verde (191), Ivory Coast (347), Gambia (12), Ghana (31), Guinea (175), Guinea-Bissau (3), Mali (44), Niger (20), Nigeria (129), Senegal (77) and Sierra Leone (1). The new deaths were recorded in Ivory Coast (2), Ghana (1), Guinea (2), Guinea-Bissau (2), Mali (1), Niger (1), Nigeria (1) and Senegal (3). West Africa now has 433,959 total cases, 5,702 total deaths and 401,410 total recoveries.
Nigeria (162,891) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (90,583), Ivory Coast (43,889), Senegal (38,782), Guinea (20,083), Cape Verde (17,470), Burkina Faso (12,717), Mali (10,042), Togo (10,249), Benin (7,100), Gambia (5,954), Niger (5,021), Sierra Leone (3,981), Guinea-Bissau (3,650) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,057) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,054), Ghana (743), Mali (385), Ivory Coast (244), Niger (187), Gambia (165), Cape Verde (168), Burkina Faso (146), Guinea (127), Togo (109), Benin (90), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (63).
Also, Nigeria (151,648) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (88,065), Ivory Coast (40,254), Senegal (37,434), Guinea (16,754), Cape Verde (16,277), Burkina Faso (12,385), Mali (6,930), Togo (7,815), Benin (6,452), Gambia (5,070), Niger (4,641), Guinea-Bissau (2,972), Sierra Leone (2,814) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,253,598 total cases, 113,070 total deaths and 3,815,496 total recoveries while the world has recorded 129,849,213 total cases, 2,832,971 total deaths and 104,656,557 total recoveries.
