The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,234 new cases and 12 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Sunday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (23), Cape Verde (107), Ivory Coast (393), Gambia (36), Guinea (267), Guinea-Bissau (15), Mali (54), Niger (15), Nigeria (101), Senegal (64), Sierra Leone (8) and Togo (151). The new deaths were recorded in Ivory Coast (3), Guinea (4), Nigeria (2) and Senegal (3). West Africa now has 430,248 total cases, 6,526 total deaths and 395,650 total recoveries.
Nigeria (162,489) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (90,287), Ivory Coast (42,861), Senegal (38,520), Guinea (19,670), Cape Verde (17,018), Burkina Faso (12,673), Mali (9,773), Togo (9,827), Benin (7,100), Gambia (5,401), Niger (4,987), Sierra Leone (3,970), Guinea-Bissau (3,630) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,941) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,037), Ghana (740), Mali (376), Ivory Coast (232), Niger (185), Gambia (163), Cape Verde (165), Burkina Faso (145), Guinea (120), Togo (107), Benin (90), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (61).
Also, Nigeria (150,205) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (87,137), Ivory Coast (38,590), Senegal (36,753), Guinea (16,425), Cape Verde (16,050), Burkina Faso (12,330), Mali (6,763), Togo (7,699), Benin (6,452), Gambia (5,030), Niger (4,586), Guinea-Bissau (2,930), Sierra Leone (2,801) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,212,569 total cases, 112,041 total deaths and 3,782,613 total recoveries while the world has recorded 127,522,584 total cases, 2,792,591 total deaths and 102,779,305 total recoveries.
