The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,381 new cases and 12 new deaths of COVID-19 in 24 hours, official figures show on Tuesday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (13), Cape Verde (24), Ivory Coast (81), Gambia (244), Ghana (340), Guinea (138), Liberia (20), Mali (26), Nigeria (417), Senegal (68), Sierra Leone (3) and Togo (7). The new deaths were registered in Cape Verde (1), Ghana (9) and Nigeria (2).
Nigeria has the highest number of total cases (49,485) and total deaths (977) while Ghana has the highest number of total recoveries (40,796) in the sub-region. West Africa now has 149,512 total cases, 2,240 total deaths and 119,587 total recoveries.
Ghana (42,993 total cases) has 248 total deaths. Ivory Coast (17,107 total cases) has 110 total deaths and 13,990 total recoveries. Senegal and Guinea have recorded 12,305 and 8,620 total cases respectively.
Senegal has 256 total deaths and 7,767 total recoveries while Guinea has 51 total deaths and 7,472 total recoveries. Cabo Verde (3,203 total cases) has 36 total deaths and 2,336 total recoveries. Mali (2,666 total cases) has 125 total deaths and 1,990 total recoveries.
Guinea-Bissau (2,117 total cases) has 33 total deaths and 1,015 total recoveries. Benin (2,063 total cases) has 39 total deaths and 1,690 total recoveries. Sierra Leone (1,959 total cases) has 69 total deaths and 1,525 total recoveries and Gambia (2,116 total cases) has 63 total deaths and 415 total recoveries.
Liberia (1,277 total cases) has 82 total deaths and 803 total recoveries. Burkina Faso (1,280 total cases) has 54 total deaths and 1,018 total recoveries. Niger (1,167 total cases) has 69 total deaths and 1,078 total recoveries. Togo (1,154 total cases) has 27 total deaths and 858 total recoveries.
Africa has registered 1,136,953 total cases, 26,038 total deaths and 852,711 total recoveries while the world has recorded 22,201,368 total cases, 780,724 total deaths and 14,906,977 total recoveries.
