The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,458 new cases and 19 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Friday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (51), Cape Verde (48), Ivory Coast (641), Gambia (37), Guinea (153), Guinea-Bissau (30), Mali (125), Niger (2), Nigeria (148), Senegal (113) and Togo (110). The new deaths were recorded in Burkina Faso (1), Ivory Coast (1), Gambia (2), Guinea (1), Mali (2), Senegal (8) and Togo (4). West Africa now has 417,289 total cases, 5,473 total deaths and 380,229 total recoveries.
Nigeria (161,409) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (88,421), Ivory Coast (38,923), Senegal (37,541), Guinea (18,438), Cape Verde (16,298), Burkina Faso (12,450), Mali (9,191), Togo (8,582), Benin (6,501), Gambia (5,122), Niger (4,906), Sierra Leone (3,947), Guinea-Bissau (3,518) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,027) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,003), Ghana (705), Mali (367), Ivory Coast (215), Niger (185), Gambia (160), Cape Verde (158), Burkina Faso (145), Guinea (107), Togo (102), Liberia (85), Benin (81), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (54).
Also, Nigeria (146,890) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (84,095), Ivory Coast (35,923), Senegal (33,931), Guinea (15,804), Cape Verde (15,646), Burkina Faso (11,998), Mali (6,603), Togo (7,078), Benin (5,552), Gambia (4,686), Niger (4,529), Guinea-Bissau (2,806), Sierra Leone (2,789) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,110,129 total cases, 109,255 total deaths and 3,676,675 total recoveries while the world has recorded 122,662,211 total cases, 2,707,163 total deaths and 98,862,419 total recoveries.
