The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,523 new cases and 7 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Thursday.
The new cases were recorded in Benin (282), Burkina Faso (24), Cape Verde (106), Ivory Coast (439), Guinea (148), Guinea-Bissau (5), Mali (103), Nigeria (102), Senegal (121) and Togo (193). The new deaths were recorded in Ivory Coast (2) and Senegal (5). West Africa now has 425,967 total cases, 5,571 total deaths and 389,162 total recoveries.
Nigeria (162,178) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (89,893), Ivory Coast (41,307), Senegal (38,255), Guinea (19,232), Cape Verde (16,661), Burkina Faso (12,596), Mali (9,577), Togo (9,340), Benin (7,100), Gambia (5,303), Niger (4,939), Sierra Leone (3,953), Guinea-Bissau (3,591) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,031) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,028), Ghana (734), Mali (372), Ivory Coast (224), Niger (185), Gambia (161), Cape Verde (163), Burkina Faso (145), Guinea (113), Togo (105), Benin (90), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (56).
Also, Nigeria (148,726) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (86,248), Ivory Coast (37,320), Senegal (35,811), Guinea (16,190), Cape Verde (15,889), Burkina Faso (12,269), Mali (6,680), Togo (7,400), Benin (5,552), Gambia (4,926), Niger (4,553), Guinea-Bissau (2,901), Sierra Leone (2,798) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,172,458 total cases, 111,115 total deaths and 3,729,683 total recoveries while the world has recorded 125,735,220 total cases, 2,760,675 total deaths and 101,486,387 total recoveries.
