The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,551 new cases and 10 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Friday.
The new cases were recorded in Benin (202), Burkina Faso (31), Cape Verde (208), Ivory Coast (95), Ghana (100), Guinea (192), Guinea-Bissau (1), Mali (413), Niger (6), Nigeria (83), Senegal (70), Sierra Leone (2) and Togo (148). The new deaths were recorded in Burkina Faso (2), Cape Verde (1), Ivory Coast (1), Guinea (1), Mali (2), Senegal (1) and Togo (2). West Africa now has 441,785 total cases, 5,796 total deaths and 412,577 total recoveries.
Nigeria (163,581) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (91,109), Ivory Coast (44,975), Senegal (39,307), Guinea (20,746), Cape Verde (18,422), Burkina Faso (12,904), Togo (11,649), Mali (11,254), Benin (7,515), Gambia (5,564), Niger (5,058), Sierra Leone (3,995), Guinea-Bissau (3,664) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,058) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,074), Ghana (752), Mali (402), Ivory Coast (258), Niger (188), Gambia (166), Cape Verde (176), Burkina Faso (152), Guinea (132), Togo (115), Benin (93), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (66).
Also, Nigeria (154,005) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (88,971), Ivory Coast (43,758), Senegal (38,031), Guinea (18,408), Cape Verde (16,925), Burkina Faso (12,556), Togo (8,797), Mali (7,057), Benin (6,452), Gambia (5,111), Niger (4,737), Guinea-Bissau (3,042), Sierra Leone (2,828) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,355,574 total cases, 115,254 total deaths and 3,899,191 total recoveries while the world has recorded 134,902,812 total cases, 2,920,669 total deaths and 108,577,025 total recoveries.
