The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,645 new cases and 30 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Friday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (45), Cape Verde (40), Ivory Coast (483), Guinea (164), Guinea-Bissau (53), Mali (72), Niger (5), Nigeria (287), Senegal (374) Sierra Leone (2) and Togo (120). The new deaths were recorded in Ivory Coast (3), Mali (1), Niger (1), Nigeria (8), Senegal (16) and Togo (1). West Africa now has 407,454 total cases, 5,297total deaths and 366,127 total recoveries.
Nigeria (159,933) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (86,737), Senegal (36,569), Ivory Coast (36,511), Guinea (17,372), Cape Verde (15,932), Burkina Faso (12,275), Mali (8,782), Togo (7,857), Benin (6,501), Niger (4,853), Gambia (4,792), Sierra Leone (3,934), Guinea-Bissau (3,380) and Liberia (2,026).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,001) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (951), Ghana (656), Mali (359), Ivory Coast (209), Niger (180), Gambia (153), Cape Verde (155), Burkina Faso (143), Guinea (101), Togo (93), Liberia (85), Benin (81), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (51).
Also, Nigeria (142,408) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (81,299), Ivory Coast (33,128), Senegal (31,977), Guinea (15,445), Cape Verde (15,275), Burkina Faso (11,905), Mali (6,466), Togo (6,601), Niger (4,486), Benin (5,552), Gambia (4,203), Sierra Leone (2,776), Guinea-Bissau (2,708) and Liberia (1,898).
Africa has registered 4,040,218 total cases, 107,241 total deaths and 3,605,960 total recoveries while the world has recorded 119,341,245 total cases, 2,645,270 total deaths and 94,949,328 total recoveries.
