The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,827 new cases and 17 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures how on Friday.
The new cases were recorded in Benin (213), Burkina Faso (57), Cape Verde (117), Ivory Coast (437), Ghana (66), Guinea (145), Guinea-Bissau (11), Mali (157), Nigeria (106), Senegal (107), Sierra Leone (6) and Togo (405). The new deaths were recorded in Benin (3), Cape Verde (1), Ivory Coast (3), Burkina Faso (3), Ghana (1), Guinea (1), Mali (1), Nigeria (1), Senegal (2) and Togo (1). West Africa now has 435,786 total cases, 5,719 total deaths and 402,450 total recoveries.
Nigeria (162,997) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (90,649), Ivory Coast (44,326), Senegal (38,889), Guinea (20,228), Cape Verde (17,587), Burkina Faso (12,774), Togo (10,654), Mali (10,199), Benin (7,313), Gambia (5,954), Niger (5,021), Sierra Leone (3,987), Guinea-Bissau (3,661) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,058) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,056), Ghana (744), Mali (386), Ivory Coast (247), Niger (187), Gambia (165), Cape Verde (169), Burkina Faso (149), Guinea (128), Togo (110), Benin (93), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (63).
Also, Nigeria (151,708) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (88,159), Ivory Coast (40,739), Senegal (37,532), Guinea (16,832), Cape Verde (16,340), Burkina Faso (12,420), Mali (6,863), Togo (7,996), Benin (6,452), Gambia (5,070), Niger (4,641), Guinea-Bissau (2,982), Sierra Leone (2,817) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,278,774 total cases, 113,496 total deaths and 3,839,625 total recoveries while the world has recorded 130,504,213 total cases, 2,844,577 total deaths and 105,112,563 total recoveries.
