The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,919 new cases and 32 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Sunday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (45), Cape Verde (49), Ivory Coast (480), Gambia (46), Ghana (687), Guinea (150), Guinea-Bissau (38), Mali (49), Niger (4), Nigeria (205) and Senegal (166). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (1), Ghana (18), Niger (1), Nigeria (4) and Senegal (8). West Africa now has 411,183 total cases, 5,358 total deaths and 371,960 total recoveries.
Nigeria (160,537) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (87,762), Senegal (36,892), Ivory Coast (37,304), Guinea (17,742), Cape Verde (16,035), Burkina Faso (12,350), Mali (8,862), Togo (7,953), Benin (6,501), Gambia (4,985), Niger (4,857), Sierra Leone (3,937), Guinea-Bissau (3,436) and Liberia (2,030).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,013) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (963), Ghana (685), Mali (360), Ivory Coast (211), Niger (181), Gambia (153), Cape Verde (156), Burkina Faso (144), Guinea (102), Togo (93), Liberia (85), Benin (81), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (52).
Also, Nigeria (144,714) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (83,169), Ivory Coast (33,603), Senegal (32,525), Guinea (15,514), Cape Verde (15,401), Burkina Faso (11,961), Mali (6,483), Togo (6,675), Niger (4,503), Benin (5,552), Gambia (4,437), Sierra Leone (2,780), Guinea-Bissau (2,744) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,060,328 total cases, 107,792 total deaths and 3,629,088 total recoveries while the world has recorded 120,241,447 total cases, 2,662,303 total deaths and 96,800,171 total recoveries.
