The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 425 new cases and 4 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Saturday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (13), Cape Verde (92), Ivory Coast (54), Ghana (23), Guinea (42), Nigeria (151), Senegal (31), Sierra Leone (5) and Togo (14). The new deaths were registered in Cape Verde (2), Guinea (1), and Senegal (1).
Nigeria has the highest number of total cases (59,992), total deaths (1,113) and total recoveries (51,614) in the sub-region. West Africa now has 180,765 total cases, 2,656 total deaths and 162,868 total recoveries.
Ghana (46,987 total cases) has 306 total deaths and 46,378 total recoveries. Ivory Coast (20,036 total cases) has 120 total deaths and 19,696 total recoveries. Senegal and Guinea have recorded 15,244 and 10,996 total cases respectively.
Senegal has 314 total deaths and 13,198 total recoveries while Guinea has 68 total deaths and 10,304 total recoveries. Cabo Verde (6,809 total cases) has 73 total deaths and 5,932 total recoveries. Gambia (3,621 total cases) has 117 total deaths and 2,489 total recoveries.
Mali (3,248 total cases) has 131 total deaths and 2,514 total recoveries. Guinea-Bissau (2,411 total cases) has 40 total deaths and 1,728 total recoveries. Benin (2,357 total cases) has 41 total deaths and 1,973 total recoveries.
Sierra Leone (2,300 total cases) has 72 total deaths and 1,725 total recoveries and Burkina Faso (2,254 total cases) has 60 total deaths and 1,516 total recoveries. Liberia (1,360 total cases) has 82 total deaths and 1,245 total recoveries. Togo (1,921 total cases) has 49 total deaths and 1,433 total recoveries. Niger (1,201 total cases) has 69 total deaths and 1,123 total recoveries.
