The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 494 new cases and 9 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Wednesday.
The new cases were recorded in Cape Verde (121), Ivory Coast (38), Ghana (67), Guinea-Bissau (13), Mali (177), Nigeria (74) and Sierra Leone (4). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (3), Ivory Coast (1), Ghana (2) and Mali (3). West Africa now has 445,633 total cases, 5,863 total deaths and 416,005 total recoveries.
Nigeria (163,911) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (91,477), Ivory Coast (45,265), Senegal (39,465), Guinea (21,032), Cape Verde (19,231), Burkina Faso (12,989), Togo (12,034), Mali (12,179), Benin (7,515), Gambia (5,602), Niger (5,081), Sierra Leone (4,013), Guinea-Bissau (3,693) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,061) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,079), Ghana (763), Mali (417), Ivory Coast (269), Niger (189), Cape Verde (187), Gambia (168), Burkina Faso (153), Guinea (136), Togo (116), Benin (93), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (66).
Also, Nigeria (154,225) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (89,301), Ivory Coast (44,771), Senegal (38,241), Guinea (18,686), Cape Verde (17,487), Burkina Faso (12,627), Togo (9,302), Mali (7,194), Benin (6,452), Gambia (5,145), Niger (4,760), Guinea-Bissau (3,083), Sierra Leone (2,832) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,410,931 total cases, 116,725 total deaths and 3,946,561 total recoveries while the world has recorded 138,519,964 total cases, 2,978,304 total deaths and 111,360,838 total recoveries.
