The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 553 new cases and 3 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Saturday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (12), Cape Verde (149), Ivory Coast (55), Gambia (3), Guinea (44), Mali (23), Nigeria (213), Senegal (30), Sierra Leone (9) and Togo (15). The new deaths were registered in Nigeria (1) and Senegal (2).
Nigeria has the highest number of total cases (58,062), total deaths (1,103) and total recoveries (49,606) in the sub-region. West Africa now has 174,507 total cases, 2,590 total deaths and 155,441 total recoveries.
Ghana (46,222 total cases) has 299 total deaths and 45,417 total recoveries. Ivory Coast (19,556 total cases) has 120 total deaths and 19,065 total recoveries. Senegal and Guinea have recorded 14,869 and 10,478 total cases respectively.
Senegal has 306 total deaths and 12,028 total recoveries while Guinea has 65 total deaths and 9,816 total recoveries. Cabo Verde (5,628 total cases) has 55 total deaths and 4,982 total recoveries. Gambia (3,555 total cases) has 110 total deaths and 2,034 total recoveries.
Mali (3,064 total cases) has 130 total deaths and 2,402 total recoveries. Guinea-Bissau (2,324 total cases) has 39 total deaths and 1,549 total recoveries. Benin (2,325 total cases) has 40 total deaths and 1,960 total recoveries.
Sierra Leone (2,208 total cases) has 72 total deaths and 1,679 total recoveries and Burkina Faso (1,962 total cases) has 56 total deaths and 1,263 total recoveries. Liberia (1,338 total cases) has 82 total deaths and 1,221 total recoveries. Togo (1,722 total cases) has 44 total deaths and 1,312 total recoveries. Niger (1,194 total cases) has 69 total deaths and 1,107 total recoveries.
Africa has registered 1,453,779 total cases, 34,930 total deaths and 1,200,277 total recoveries while the world has recorded 32,887,374 total cases, 995,423 total deaths and 24,261,806 total recoveries.
