The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 611 new cases and 4 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Friday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (16), Cape Verde (82), Ivory Coast (41), Gambia (1), Ghana (174), Guinea (30), Liberia (11), Mali (60), Niger (4), Nigeria (146), Senegal (25), Sierra Leone (2) and Togo (19).
The new deaths were recorded in Mali (1), Nigeria (2) and Senegal (1). West Africa now has 200,095 total cases, 2,833 total deaths and 188,531 total recoveries.
Nigeria (65,839) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (50,631), Ivory Coast (21,086), Senegal (15,848), Guinea (12,743), Cape Verde (10,082), Mali (4,093), Gambia (3,706), Benin (2,916), Togo (2,771), Burkina Faso (2,686), Guinea-Bissau (2,421), Sierra Leone (2,399), Liberia (1,539) and Niger (1,335).
Moreover, Nigeria (1,165) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (330), Ghana (323), Mali (142), Ivory Coast (129), Gambia (122), Cape Verde (104), Liberia (82), Guinea (75), Sierra Leone (74), Niger (70), Burkina Faso (68), Togo (63), Benin (43) and Guinea-Bissau (43).
Also, Nigeria (61,573) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (49,103), Ivory Coast (20,729), Senegal (15,452), Guinea (11,789), Cape Verde (9,557), Gambia (3,578), Mali (2,997), Benin (2,579), Burkina Faso (2,476), Guinea-Bissau (2,286), Liberia (1,331), Togo (2,101), Sierra Leone (1,827) and Niger (1,153).
Africa has registered 2,045,225 total cases, 48,904 total deaths and 1,723,552 total recoveries while the world has recorded 57,531,513 total cases, 1,370,616 total deaths and 39,929,010 total recoveries.
