The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 627 new cases and 14 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Sunday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (42), Gambia (102), Ghana (224), Niger (7), Nigeria (112) and Senegal (140). The new deaths were recorded in Gambia (1), Ghana (4), Nigeria (3) and Senegal (6). West Africa now has 421,063 total cases, 5,516 total deaths and 383,994 total recoveries.
Nigeria (161,651) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (89,500), Ivory Coast (39,913), Senegal (37,833), Guinea (18,562), Cape Verde (16,440), Burkina Faso (12,516), Mali (9,270), Togo (8,839), Benin (6,818), Gambia (5,255), Niger (4,918), Sierra Leone (3,948), Guinea-Bissau (3,558) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,030) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,013), Ghana (720), Mali (367), Ivory Coast (217), Niger (185), Gambia (161), Cape Verde (159), Burkina Faso (145), Guinea (108), Togo (102), Benin (90), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (55).
Also, Nigeria (147,775) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (85,455), Ivory Coast (36,279), Senegal (34,567), Guinea (15,862), Cape Verde (15,732), Burkina Faso (12,029), Mali (6,610), Togo (7,193), Benin (5,552), Gambia (4,875), Niger (4,538), Guinea-Bissau (2,837), Sierra Leone (2,791) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,132,715 total cases, 110,009 total deaths and 3,692,425 total recoveries while the world has recorded 123,635,369 total cases, 2,724,511 total deaths and 99,616,614 total recoveries.
