The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 684 new cases and 6 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Sunday.
The new cases were recorded in Benin (19), Burkina Faso (7), Cape Verde (75), Ivory Coast (203), Gambia (47), Guinea (73), Mali (28), Nigeria (162), Senegal (39), Sierra Leone (11) and Togo (20). The new deaths were registered in Cape Verde (1), Mali (1), Nigeria (3) and Togo (1).
Nigeria has the highest number of total cases (54,905) and total deaths (1,054) while Ghana has the highest number of total recoveries (43,693) in the sub-region. West Africa now has 164,057 total cases, 2,462 total deaths and 138,887 total recoveries.
Ghana (44,777 total cases) has 283 total deaths. Ivory Coast (18,472 total cases) has 119 total deaths and 17,323 total recoveries. Senegal and Guinea have recorded 13,987 and 9,722 total cases respectively.
Senegal has 290 total deaths and 9,922 total recoveries while Guinea has 61 total deaths and 8,886 total recoveries. Cabo Verde (4,275 total cases) has 42 total deaths and 3,611 total recoveries. Gambia (3,197 total cases) has 99 total deaths and 1,315 total recoveries.
Mali (2,842 total cases) has 127 total deaths and 2,238 total recoveries. Guinea-Bissau (2,245 total cases) has 38 total deaths and 1,127 total recoveries. Benin (2,194 total cases) has 40 total deaths and 1,793 total recoveries.
Sierra Leone (2,054 total cases) has 71 total deaths and 1,611 total recoveries and Liberia (1,306 total cases) has 82 total deaths and 1,163 total recoveries. Burkina Faso (1,408 total cases) has 54 total deaths and 1,098 total recoveries. Togo (1,477 total cases) has 32 total deaths and 1,094 total recoveries. Niger (1,177 total cases) has 69 total deaths and 1,091 total recoveries.
Africa has registered 1,298,948 total cases, 31,164 total deaths and 1,034,316 total recoveries while the world has recorded 27,207,127 total cases, 885,812 total deaths and 19,291,144 total recoveries.
