The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 698 new cases and 6 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures shows on Sunday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (21), Cape Verde (310), Ivory Coast (55), Gambia (37), Ghana (109), Guinea-Bissau (2), Niger (15), Nigeria (51), Senegal (53) and Togo (45). The new deaths were recorded in Ivory Coast (2), Guinea-Bissau (1), and Senegal (3). West Africa now has 454,854 total cases, 5,993 total deaths and 424,423 total recoveries.
Nigeria (164,684) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (92,037), Ivory Coast (45,820), Senegal (40,135), Guinea (21,885), Cape Verde (22,094), Burkina Faso (13,252), Togo (12,787), Mali (13,560), Benin (7,720), Gambia (5,857), Niger (5,158), Sierra Leone (4,044), Guinea-Bissau (3,724) and Liberia (2,097).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,061) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,102), Ghana (777), Mali (462), Ivory Coast (281), Niger (191), Cape Verde (201), Gambia (173), Burkina Faso (156), Guinea (140), Togo (121), Benin (97), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (67).
Also, Nigeria (154,687) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (89,841), Ivory Coast (45,343), Senegal (38,861), Guinea (19,194), Cape Verde (19,194), Burkina Faso (12,907), Togo (10,699), Mali (7,989), Benin (7,510), Gambia (5,284), Niger (4,831), Guinea-Bissau (3,237), Sierra Leone (2,993) and Liberia (1,940).
Africa has registered 4,537,799 total cases, 120,243 total deaths and 4,055,548 total recoveries while the world has recorded 147,560,783 total cases, 3,118,452 total deaths and 125,483,177 total recoveries.
