The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 707 new cases and 10 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Thursday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (28), Cape Verde (191), Ivory Coast (26), Guinea-Bissau (1), Mali (83), Niger (4), Nigeria (110), Senegal (73) and Togo (191). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (2), Ivory Coast (1), Mali (4) and Senegal (3). West Africa now has 440,234 total cases, 5,786 total deaths and 411,349 total recoveries.
Nigeria (163,498) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (91,009), Ivory Coast (44,880), Senegal (39,237), Guinea (20,554), Cape Verde (18,214), Burkina Faso (12,873), Togo (11,501), Mali (10,841), Benin (7,313), Gambia (5,564), Niger (5,052), Sierra Leone (3,993), Guinea-Bissau (3,663) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,058) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,073), Ghana (752), Mali (400), Ivory Coast (257), Niger (188), Gambia (166), Cape Verde (175), Burkina Faso (150), Guinea (131), Togo (113), Benin (93), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (66).
Also, Nigeria (153,788) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (88,810), Ivory Coast (43,446), Senegal (37,970), Guinea (18,302), Cape Verde (16,811), Burkina Faso (12,540), Togo (8,592), Mali (7,043), Benin (6,452), Gambia (5,111), Niger (4,725), Guinea-Bissau (3,032), Sierra Leone (2,828) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,342,893 total cases, 114,974 total deaths and 3,888,743 total recoveries while the world has recorded 134,082,314 total cases, 2,906,755 total deaths and 108,055,707 total recoveries.
