The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 725 new cases and 8 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Friday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (5), Cape Verde (373), Ivory Coast (55), Gambia (2), Guinea (63), Guinea-Bissau (2), Mali (78), Niger (2), Nigeria (62), Senegal (49), Sierra Leone (1) and Togo (33). The new deaths were recorded in Mali (7) and Togo (1). West Africa now has 458,646 total cases, 6,051 total deaths and 428,478 total recoveries.
Nigeria (165,055) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (92,562), Ivory Coast (45,998), Senegal (40,344), Cape Verde (23,554), Guinea (22,215), Mali (13,858), Burkina Faso (13,309), Togo (12,931), Benin (7,821), Gambia (5,887), Niger (5,226), Sierra Leone (4,054), Guinea-Bissau (3,733) and Liberia (2,099).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,063) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,107), Ghana (779), Mali (484), Ivory Coast (286), Niger (191), Cape Verde (213), Gambia (174), Burkina Faso (157), Guinea (144), Togo (123), Benin (99), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (67).
Also, Nigeria (155,041) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (90,196), Ivory Coast (45,498), Senegal (39,083), Cape Verde (20,257), Guinea (19,670), Burkina Faso (13,031), Togo (11,045), Mali (8,560), Benin (7,580), Gambia (5,341), Niger (4,851), Guinea-Bissau (3,300), Sierra Leone (3,076) and Liberia (1,949).
Africa has registered 4,590,127 total cases, 121,891 total deaths and 4,114,915 total recoveries while the world has recorded 151,726,543 total cases, 3,186,785 total deaths and 129,603,319 total recoveries.
