The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 727 new cases and 13 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Saturday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (19), Cape Verde (284), Ivory Coast (50), Guinea (82), Guinea-Bissau (1), Mali (140), Nigeria (45), Senegal (62) and Togo (44). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (2), Ivory Coast (2), Guinea (1), Mali (6) and Senegal (2). West Africa now has 454,156 total cases, 5,987 total deaths and 423,864 total recoveries.
Nigeria (164,633) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (91,928), Ivory Coast (45,765), Senegal (40,082), Guinea (21,885), Cape Verde (21,784), Burkina Faso (13,231), Togo (12,742), Mali (13,560), Benin (7,720), Gambia (5,820), Niger (5,143), Sierra Leone (4,044), Guinea-Bissau (3,722) and Liberia (2,097).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,061) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,099), Ghana (777), Mali (462), Ivory Coast (279), Niger (191), Cape Verde (201), Gambia (173), Burkina Faso (156), Guinea (140), Togo (121), Benin (97), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (66).
Also, Nigeria (154,643) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (89,729), Ivory Coast (45,311), Senegal (38,815), Guinea (19,194), Cape Verde (18,959), Burkina Faso (12,887), Togo (10,614), Mali (7,989), Benin (7,510), Gambia (5,272), Niger (4,812), Guinea-Bissau (3,205), Sierra Leone (2,967) and Liberia (1,940).
Africa has registered 4,526,819 total cases, 119,939 total deaths and 4,046,995 total recoveries while the world has recorded 146,749,843 total cases, 3,105,728 total deaths and 124,772,756 total recoveries.
