The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 728 new cases and 18 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Tuesday.
The new cases were recorded in Cape Verde (237), Ivory Coast (11), Ghana (298), Guinea (61), Mali (31), Niger (13), Nigeria (37), Senegal (27) and Togo (13). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (5), Ivory Coast (1), Ghana (2), Mali (7), Senegal (2) and Togo (1). West Africa now has 456,307 total cases, 6,023 total deaths and 426,168 total recoveries.
Nigeria (164,756) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (92,464), Ivory Coast (45,863), Senegal (40,193), Guinea (22,046), Cape Verde (22,586), Burkina Faso (13,263), Togo (12,827), Mali (13,658), Benin (7,720), Gambia (5,857), Niger (5,207), Sierra Leone (4,044), Guinea-Bissau (3,726) and Liberia (2,098).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,062) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,106), Ghana (779), Mali (474), Ivory Coast (283), Niger (191), Cape Verde (208), Gambia (173), Burkina Faso (156), Guinea (141), Togo (122), Benin (97), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (67).
Also, Nigeria (154,963) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (90,103), Ivory Coast (45,413), Senegal (38,953), Guinea (19,466), Cape Verde (19,525), Burkina Faso (12,937), Togo (10,781), Mali (8,183), Benin (7,510), Gambia (5,284), Niger (4,836), Guinea-Bissau (3,252), Sierra Leone (3,020) and Liberia (1,942).
Africa has registered 4,553,865 total cases, 120,786 total deaths and 4,074,058 total recoveries while the world has recorded 148,988,129 total cases, 3,140,688 total deaths and 127,141,099 total recoveries.
