The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 748 new cases and 14 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Tuesday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (24), Cape Verde (26), Ivory Coast (291), Ghana (105), Guinea (68), Mali (50), Niger (10), Nigeria (131), Sierra Leone (1) and Togo (42). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (1), Ivory Coast (2), Ghana (6), Guinea (2) and Mali (3). West Africa now has 423,097 total cases, 5,547 total deaths and 385,959 total recoveries.
Nigeria (161,868) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (89,787), Ivory Coast (40,601), Senegal (37,920), Guinea (18,945), Cape Verde (16,517), Burkina Faso (12,559), Mali (9,380), Togo (8,960), Benin (6,818), Gambia (5,255), Niger (4,928), Sierra Leone (3,949), Guinea-Bissau (3,568) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,030) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,016), Ghana (731), Mali (371), Ivory Coast (222), Niger (185), Gambia (161), Cape Verde (160), Burkina Faso (145), Guinea (113), Togo (104), Benin (90), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (55).
Also, Nigeria (148,125) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (85,965), Ivory Coast (36,502), Senegal (34,892), Guinea (16,079), Cape Verde (15,804), Burkina Faso (12,177), Mali (6,644), Togo (7,242), Benin (5,552), Gambia (4,875), Niger (4,541), Guinea-Bissau (2,870), Sierra Leone (2,792) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,149,027 total cases, 110,462 total deaths and 3,707,983 total recoveries while the world has recorded 124,373,190 total cases, 2,737,430 total deaths and 100,353,563 total recoveries.
