The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 807 new cases and 9 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Sunday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (12), Cape Verde (104), Ivory Coast (173), Gambia (46), Ghana (108), Guinea (86), Niger (7), Nigeria (50), Sierra Leone (1) and Togo (220). The new deaths were recorded in Ivory Coast (2), Gambia (1), Ghana (4), Guinea (1) and Niger (1). West Africa now has 437,532 total cases, 5,749 total deaths and 405,144 total recoveries.
Nigeria (163,113) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (90,782), Ivory Coast (44,618), Senegal (38,953), Guinea (20,405), Cape Verde (17,821), Burkina Faso (12,803), Togo (11,068), Mali (10,432), Benin (7,313), Gambia (5,505), Niger (5,028), Sierra Leone (3,988), Guinea-Bissau (3,661) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,058) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,063), Ghana (748), Mali (391), Ivory Coast (252), Niger (188), Gambia (166), Cape Verde (171), Burkina Faso (150), Guinea (130), Togo (110), Benin (93), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (65).
Also, Nigeria (151,853) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (88,585), Ivory Coast (41,687), Senegal (37,614), Guinea (17,458), Cape Verde (16,443), Burkina Faso (12,445), Togo (8,201), Mali (6,926), Benin (6,452), Gambia (5,086), Niger (4,669), Guinea-Bissau (3,002), Sierra Leone (2,824) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,299,253 total cases, 113,978 total deaths and 3,853,076 total recoveries while the world has recorded 131,655,578 total cases, 2,862,899 total deaths and 106,022,536 total recoveries.
