The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 817 new cases and 13 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Monday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (14), Cape Verde (50), Ivory Coast (131), Ghana (118), Guinea-Bissau (1), Mali (148), Niger (13), Nigeria (82), Senegal (140), Sierra Leone (1) and Togo (119). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (2), Ivory Coast (3), Ghana (4), Guinea-Bissau (1), Mali (1) and Togo (2). West Africa now has 438,349 total cases, 5,762 total deaths and 406,126 total recoveries.
Nigeria (163,195) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (90,900), Ivory Coast (44,749), Senegal (39,093), Guinea (20,405), Cape Verde (17,871), Burkina Faso (12,817), Togo (11,187), Mali (10,580), Benin (7,313), Gambia (5,505), Niger (5,041), Sierra Leone (3,989), Guinea-Bissau (3,662) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,058) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,063), Ghana (752), Mali (392), Ivory Coast (255), Niger (188), Gambia (166), Cape Verde (173), Burkina Faso (150), Guinea (130), Togo (117), Benin (93), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (66).
Also, Nigeria (151,998) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (88,674), Ivory Coast (42,071), Senegal (37,767), Guinea (17,450), Cape Verde (16,480), Burkina Faso (12,467), Togo (8,288), Mali (6,959), Benin (6,452), Gambia (5,086), Niger (4,698), Guinea-Bissau (3,012), Sierra Leone (2,825) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,308,567 total cases, 114,220 total deaths and 3,858,060 total recoveries while the world has recorded 132,211,138 total cases, 2,869,491 total deaths and 106,439,824 total recoveries.
