The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 1,286 new cases and 17 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Monday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (19), Cape Verde (51), Ivory Coast (397), Ghana (182), Guinea (315), Guinea-Bissau (10), Mali (60), Nigeria (86), Senegal (87) and Togo (79). The new deaths were recorded in Ivory Coast (3), Ghana (5), Guinea (3), Mali (1), Senegal (3) and Togo (2). West Africa now has 422,349 total cases, 5,533 total deaths and 385,125 total recoveries.
Nigeria (161,737) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (89,682), Ivory Coast (40,310), Senegal (37,920), Guinea (18,877), Cape Verde (16,491), Burkina Faso (12,535), Mali (9,330), Togo (8,918), Benin (6,818), Gambia (5,255), Niger (4,918), Sierra Leone (3,948), Guinea-Bissau (3,568) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,030) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,016), Ghana (725), Mali (368), Ivory Coast (220), Niger (185), Gambia (161), Cape Verde (159), Burkina Faso (145), Guinea (111), Togo (104), Benin (90), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (55).
Also, Nigeria (147,899) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (85,761), Ivory Coast (36,395), Senegal (34,892), Guinea (16,009), Cape Verde (15,752), Burkina Faso (12,038), Mali (6,628), Togo (7,225), Benin (5,552), Gambia (4,875), Niger (4,538), Guinea-Bissau (2,870), Sierra Leone (2,792) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,142,959 total cases, 110,192 total deaths and 3,701,408 total recoveries while the world has recorded 124,055,456 total cases, 2,730,247 total deaths and 99,965,739 total recoveries.
