The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has recorded 867 new cases and 15 new deaths of COVID-19 in past 24 hours, official figures show on Saturday.
The new cases were recorded in Burkina Faso (19), Cape Verde (195), Ivory Coast (30), Gambia (26), Guinea-Bissau (4), Mali (274), Niger (3), Nigeria (68), Senegal (68), Sierra Leone (4) and Togo (177). The new deaths were recorded in Cape Verde (1), Ivory Coast (1), Mali (8), Senegal (3) and Togo (2). West Africa now has 448,937 total cases, 5,905 total deaths and 418,514 total recoveries.
Nigeria (164,147) has the highest total cases compared to Ghana (91,545), Ivory Coast (45,474), Senegal (39,731), Guinea (21,392), Cape Verde (19,975), Burkina Faso (13,083), Togo (12,391), Mali (12,980), Benin (7,611), Gambia (5,720), Niger (5,116), Sierra Leone (4,020), Guinea-Bissau (3,710) and Liberia (2,042).
Moreover, Nigeria (2,061) has the highest total deaths compared to Senegal (1,090), Ghana (766), Mali (429), Ivory Coast (274), Niger (190), Cape Verde (189), Gambia (170), Burkina Faso (154), Guinea (138), Togo (119), Benin (95), Liberia (85), Sierra Leone (79) and Guinea-Bissau (66).
Also, Nigeria (154,304) has the highest total recoveries compared to Ghana (89,400), Ivory Coast (44,993), Senegal (38,441), Guinea (18,856), Cape Verde (17,870), Burkina Faso (12,742), Togo (9,970), Mali (7,385), Benin (6,728), Gambia (5,190), Niger (4,771), Guinea-Bissau (3,117), Sierra Leone (2,848) and Liberia (1,899).
Africa has registered 4,453,920 total cases, 117,770 total deaths and 3,975,962 total recoveries while the world has recorded 141,041,650 total cases, 3,017,888 total deaths and 119,794,344 total recoveries.
