Cerebrospinal meningitis (CSM) has killed 18 persons in the Upper West Region of Ghana within three months.
The region recorded 137 cases in 11 districts and municipalities in the region.
The Daily Graphic reports on Monday stated that Mrs. Justinal Zoyah-Diedong, the Upper West Region Diseases Control Officer, disclosed this during an emergency meeting.
The number of deaths was higher than eight deaths recorded in 182 cases the previous year.
Ghana records CSM cases annually, most of which result in fatalities.
Recently, some senior high students suffered from CSM in the central region due excessive heath conditions in the country.
