The event will feature a three-day program with six high-level plenary sessions.
The International Symposium on Surgical, Obstetric and Anaesthetic Health Care in Africa is being held from May 5 to 6, 2022 in Senegal. It is jointly organized by the Government of Senegal, Mercy Ships, the World Health Organization (WHO) Office for Africa, the College of Surgeons of West Africa, the Smile Train Organization, and other partners.
Ministers of Health, health experts, and leaders representing global health institutions will participate in the meeting to present the results of the current situation analysis on surgical, obstetric, and anesthesia care in the WHO African Region, including identified gaps, priority objectives, implementation strategies, and investments.
The plenary sessions will be followed by a summit of health ministers that will result in a continental roadmap to increase access to surgical, obstetric and anesthesia care in Africa by 2030.
