Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company for inauguration on May 22
APA – Lagos (Nigeria)
The $19 billion Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical Company will be inaugurated in Lagos on May 22, the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Dangote Industries Ltd, Mr Anthony Chiejina, has said.
Chiejina told journalists on Sunday in Lagos that the refinery would be producing 650,000 barrels per day, which is expected to solve the erratic supply of petroleum products in Nigeria.
The Refinery complex located in Lekki Free Zone area of Lagos is the largest in Africa and the biggest single-train facility in the world.
Meanwhile, Mr Bashir Ahmad, Special Assistant to the Nigerian President on digital communications, said on Sunday in Abuja that President Muhammadu Buhari would inaugurate the refinery.
“Efforts by the Federal Government to make Nigeria self-sufficient in local refining of crude oil to save the scarce foreign exchange used in the importation of petroleum products have received a boost as the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote Refinery, the world’s largest single-train refinery, is set for inauguration on May 22nd, 2023, by President Muhammadu Buhari,” Ahmed said in his tweeter handle.
