Upon their arrest by the Ugandan Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) while travelling to Kampala for business, the four deportees were separately arrested by security operatives and detained in different locations, mainly military barracks, reports said.
The deportations of came after Rwandan Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Richard Sezibera has recently claimed that over 100 of his compatriots are known to be illegally detained in Uganda.
According to him, those the Rwandese arrested were not allowed access consular services or legal assistance among other basic human rights.
In light of this, the government in Kigali has advised its citizens against traveling to Uganda until their safety there can be guaranteed.
In a related development, Rwanda has said that claims by Uganda that Kigali had unilaterally imposed an embargo on goods entering its territory are diversionary tactics which do not address fundamental issues raised by the Rwandan government.
Kigali also accused Ugandan of backing armed groups and terrorist organisations hostile to Rwanda, including RNC, FDLR and others, who it claimed are backed in their subversive activities, including recruitment, by institutions and officials in Kampala.
It said that the details of these concerns have been repeatedly communicated to the government of Uganda, without any reaction from Kampala.
