A cloud of dust has been hanging over the Ethiopian city of Dire Dawa and surrounding areas in the east of the country on Saturday.
The haze of dust which lasted for more than an hour over Dire-Dawa and Kulbi, covered the sun, which plunged the area into darkness, witnesses said.
Assistant Prof. Yonas Tadese, a Geography lecturer at Dire Dawa University told journalists that the phenomena is the result of low air pressure that moved to the northern hemisphere.
According to the professor, the cloud of dust that started from Djibouti and passed through Somaliland before entering Ethiopia, could ruin everything as it moves very fast.
However, the chain of highlands in Eastern Ethiopia that are covered with vegetation could help to minimize its speed.
