Botswana’s Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) said Friday that the Online Business Registration System (OBRS) will go live on 3rd June 2019 to improve the ease of doing business in the country.
In a statement, CIPA said “This effectively means switching over from the old registration system to the new online system.”
The OBRS, which is part of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry’s Doing Business Reforms, is intended to provide benefits for the business community.
CIPA said some of the benefits include improved ease of doing business through online company registration from the comfort of the home or office and faster company registration turnaround.
Another benefit is that all companies and business names will be registered within 24 hours and real time, instant updates for changes in directorship, shareholding, company secretaries and other company details.
“We wish to remind our clients that in order to fully enjoy the benefits of the OBRS, all registered companies and business names are required to re-register on the new system,” said CIPA.
Botswana is ranked 86 among 190 economies in the ease of doing business index.
