APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda have joined hands in a bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON).
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) issued the invitation for bids for the hosting rights of the tournament on April 6.
The four bids from six countries arrived on the deadline day, the governing body of African football announced on Thursday.
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda have submitted a joint expression of interest with CAF.
Algeria, Botswana and Egypt have also registered interest to host the tournament individually.
Botswana’s bid was also due to be a joint one, but Namibia dropped out at the last minute, citing financial concerns.
May 23 has been set as the deadline for submitting final official plans before inspection visits by CAF officials in June and July.
CAF is yet to make a decision on who will host the 2025 AfCON, having stripped Guinea of the right in October due to insufficient preparation.
However, the successful nations that will host both the 2025, and 2027 tournaments will be announced at the same time by September this year, CAF disclosed earlier this month.
