A Nigerian has been appointed head of corporate and investment banking at a leading pan-African bank.
Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), the group’s parent company, has announced the appointment of Akin Dada as the new Executive Director of Corporate and Investment Banking.
Previously Head of Ecobank Group’s Corporate Banking, Dada joined Ecobank in 2017 as Executive Director of Corporate Banking in Nigeria.
He has over 30 years of banking experience in customer coverage, strategic deal initiation and advisory dialogues across various customer segments including public sector, telecom, FMCG, oil and gas.
“Akin Dada’s rich and varied experience from many years in corporate banking, together with his broader knowledge of banking, credit and risk management, make him the ideal person to lead our Corporate and Investment Bank,” Ecobank CEO, Ade Ayeyemi said.
Prior to joining Ecobank, the banker was the Managing Director of Citigroup Cameroon.
He worked for Citigroup for 26 years in Corporate and Investment Banking as a Senior Transactor, Senior Relationship Banker and Business Development Manager.
At Citigroup, he handled a wide range of transactions in the areas of loan syndication, project finance, corporate finance and advisory.
He also worked briefly at Access Bank Nigeria Plc as a manager in the oil and gas department.
Dada holds an MBA from the University of Warwick, UK and a degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.
He will be taking over from Amin Manekia, who retired in 2020.
