APA-Cairo (Egypt) – The Cairo forum highlighted Morocco’s efforts in the fight against corruption.
The 5th session of the Conference of States Parties to the Arab Anti-Corruption Convention got underway in Cairo, Egypt on Tuesday.
Yasser Chokairi, Director of the Partnership and Development Unit at the National Authority for Integrity, Prevention and the Fight against Corruption, underlined Morocco’s commitment to this fight, highlighting its concrete actions such as the ratification of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the adoption of a national strategy.
Speaking at the Arab Forum on “Consolidating efforts to combat corruption: current situation and challenges”, he also highlighted the crucial role of the private sector, notably through the introduction of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and the code of best practices for corporate governance.
The entry into force of Law 46-19 creating the National Integrity Agency marked a decisive turning point.
Morocco’s new strategy is based on principles such as education, promoting transparency, making public life more ethical and putting an end to impunity.
The Moroccan delegation, led by Mohamed Bachir Rachidi, is taking an active part in the discourses, demonstrating the country’s continued commitment to the fight against corruption.
