Egypt’s flag carrier airline, EgyptAir on Saturday inaugurated a direct flight service from Cairo to the Rwandan capital of Kigali to meet the needs of the increasing exchanges between the two countries, according to a statement obtained by APA in Kigali.
The new EgyptAir operations will be added to the current African destinations in addition to other destinations served by our code-share partner airlines, the statement said.
Operating twice a week on Thursdays and Saturdays, the departure from Cairo will be 9:40 pm and arrival to Kigali will be at 2:40 am, the airline said.
The scheduled departure from Kigali will be 3:20 am and arrival to Cairo will be 9:35 am, according to the same source.
Rwanda earns about $30million in exports to Egypt annually while Egypt earns a staggering $64millon from exports to Rwanda.
In addition, Both Rwanda and Egypt belong to the Common Market and Southern Africa (COMESA) trade block.
