President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Monday headed for Saudi Arabia to participate in the Joint Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh, a statement from his office in Cairo confirmed.
President El-Sisi will deliver Egypt’s foreign policy stance before the summit, highlighting the pillars of the Egyptian position and Cairo’s intensive efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon following sustained onslaught by Israel.
Egypt said its key position is to prevent the region from sliding into a large-scale regional conflict, in addition to preserving the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state.
This arrangement should be in line with the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as the capital of a new Palestinian state, according to the statement from the Egyptian presidency.
