Eight revellers at a birthday party in a South African township have been shot dead by two unidentified gunmen, the police revealed in a statement on Monday.
The gunmen barged into the party in Eastern Cape province and opened fire on the revellers in Gqeberha township on Sunday, killing at least eight including the main occupant of the house where the gig was taking place.
Several people were also wounded while others are being treated for shock.
Police Minister, Bheki Cele said there is a manhunt for the gunmen who got away after the random shooting.
The police said investigations are also underway to determine the cause of the apparently unprovoked incident.
