Emirates Airlines has announced that its flights to Nigeria will be suspended by next month given its inability to ship its monies from the West African country thanks to restrictions introduced on access to foreign exchange, APA learnt on Wednesday.
The airline based in Dubai said it has been having challenges accessing its monies in Nigeria after the government placed restricted access to foreign exchange.
Nigerian government officials have not reacted to Emirates’ decision to suspend its flights to the country.
Emirates said despite overtures to the Nigerian authorities to address the issue, no solution has yet been found and it was now expedient from a business sense to stop flights by September 1st 2022.
This it said will limit further losses incurred by operating in Nigeria where prospective travellers can get a refund by Emirates.
Emirates said it would reconsider the decision if a solution is found by the authorities in Nigeria.
