Enyimba International FC have won the 2018/2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title after defeating Akwa United 3-0 on Wednesday in Lagos.
The club ended the NPFL Super Six Championship Playoffs with 12 points from 5 matches.
With this victory, Enyimba have now won a record eighth Nigerian league titles and will represent Nigeria in the 2020 CAF Champions League.
Enyimba have previously won the championship in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2015 and 2019.
Local media reports said that Kano Pillars and Enugu Rangers are also expected to join Enyimba to play international football next year after the final playoff game between Pillars and Lobi Stars on Thursday.
Rangers have eight points from five matches, while Pillars are on the same points with a game to spare.
The reports added that the champions and runners-up of the championship playoffs will feature in the CAF Champions League, while the third-placed team will play in the CAF Confederation Cup.
