APA-Mbabane (Eswatini) The Eswatini government has extended operating hours at three main border posts to cater for an anticipated increase in passenger and vehicular traffic during the festive season.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Mahamba, Matsamo and Mananga crossing points between the country and South Africa would all have their operating hours extended by two hours during the festive season.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs is thrilled to announce that Mahamba, Matsamo, and Mananga ports of entry will be extending their operating hours during the upcoming festive season to accommodate increased travel activity,” the ministry’s principal secretary Nhlanhla Nxumalo said in a statement on Wednesday.
Mahamba border post, which normally operates from 7am (0500 GMT) to 10pm, would have its operating hours extended to midnight on Friday and Saturday this week, while the Matsamo entry point would operate from 7am to 10pm until 2 January 2024. The usual operating hours for Matsamo are between 7am and 8pm.
The Mananga border post is expected to open from 7am to 8pm until this weekend. Usual operating hours are from 7am to 6pm.
Nxumalo said the ministry would also deploy its mobile office to Matsamo and Ngwenya border posts to ensure efficient service delivery.
