APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) The latest talks between Ethiopia, Egypt and Sudan on the controversial Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) ended without agreement.
The three neighbouring countries have been in talks on the first filling and annual operation of the dam in Addis Ababa for the past two days.
Ethiopia’s Chief negotiator Seleshi Bekele (PhD) said the three Nile countries exchanged “constructive ideas” on pending issues while Egypt’s water and irrigation minister Hani Sewlam reportedly blamed Ethiopia for making things complicated.
“We have exchanged constructive ideas on various outstanding issues with a view to bridge the differences among the parties,” he said.
“Ethiopia reiterates its commitment to continue negotiating in good faith,” he added.
The latest talks took place in Addis Ababa after the successful completion of the fourth round of filling the GERD as per the Declaration of Principles of 2015.
