Ethiopian athletics team concluded the 2022 World Athletics Championships with an impressive second-place finish on the medals table.
More than 1700 athletes from 179 countries competed in this year’s championships at Oregon which ended on Sunday night.
Ethiopia collected ten medals in the Athletics Championships Including includes four golds, the second most of any country.
The U.S. tops the medal table, after breaking the record for the most medals at a single championship, earning 33 in total, 13 of them gold.
Jamaica and Kenya each finished the world championships with 10 total medals, each having two golds.
In total, athletes from 43 different countries are going home with at least one medal, said the sport’s governing body World Athletics (WA). Three athletes produced world records.
The WA also said the record for the number of countries winning gold medals at one championship has been broken, with 29 countries taking turns on the top step of the podium, compared with 26 in 2017.
Peru, Kazakhstan, and Nigeria won their first-ever gold medals, while India and Burkina Faso also had their best ever medal performances (silver).
