APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Hundreds of people have been killed in drones, jets and heavy artilleries attacks by the federal government in Ethiopia’s Amhara region, APA can report on Wednesday.
The attacks were carried out amid fighting between the National Defense Force and the armed forces known as Fano Fighters who have been advancing to control Gonder, Bahir Dar and Debereberhan cities in the region.
Information reaching APA said the Fano Fighters have withdrawn from those cities to avoid further causalities against civilians.
The Fano Fighters Tuesday broke the major detention center in Bahir Dar, capital of the Amhara region and freed prisoners, majority of whom Fano Fighters.
So far, the Amhara Popular Front (APF) condemned the killings and labeled the attacks as war crimes and genocidal violence being committed against the Amhara people by the federal government.
The regime has been accused of pursuing a vicious agenda of ethnic cleansing and genocide targeting the Amhara population.
The situation has recently escalated even further, as Abiy Ahmed’s regime launched an all-out war on the Amhara region.
The government has shut down the Internet to control the narrative and conceal their crimes from the global community. The war has reached horrifying levels, with heavy weaponry and drones being used against defenseless civilians, religious institutions and historical sites.
A case in point is the recent aggression that included the deployment of drone and air attacks on the cities of Debre Birhan and Gondar. Among the horrific casualties is the Fasiledes Castle — an iconic symbol of the nation’s history and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
