The rebel Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has gained momentum and fully controlled several towns including Korem, Alamata and Kobo towns and advancing to the south, heading to Woldia city, 503 kilometers north of Addis Ababa.
TPLF has also launched a new offensive at Adi Arkay in the Wolkait fronts where it suffered a humiliating defeat, APA has learned Tuesday.
There are reports that the Ethiopian military under Abiy Ahmed’s command is practically out of the war. Addis Ababa is also accused of refusing to supply Amhara forces with logistics in both the Raya and Wolkait fronts.
The war is chiefly taking place between the Amhara and Tigray forces. The Amhara regional government claimed it had regained the lands which were annexed by the Tigray forces after the latter took power in 1991 at the federal government.
The Amhara forces (Special Force, militia, and Fano) are not provided with weapons and food and many of them go fighting without eating for up to five days.
According to information reaching APA, Amhara troops have been outgunned by TPLF troops who have armed themselves with weapons the national army left for them.
The Ethiopian army reportedly precipitously withdrew from Korem, Alamata and Kobo towns- all in Amhara region to the disappointment of the Amhara Special Forces who claimed they had been sabotaged by the Addis Ababa.
The Amhara forces are getting demoralized and disillusioned as they find out that the propaganda they are hearing from the government and the reality on the ground are far apart.
Despite claims by the Abiy regime and its supporters, TPLF is on the move —the Amhara Special Force and militia who represent about more than 35 million people of the over 110 million Ethiopian population.
