The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in Ethiopia has surpassed the 20-million mark with more than 1.5 million shots given on Tuesday.
The East African nation started offering the COVID-19 vaccine to its citizens in March, 2021. Since then, it has offered over 20,85 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to its citizens.
More than 1.53 million doses were administered in the past twenty-four hours, according to the ministry of health report.
Nearly 17.2 million people have also received their second shots, the report says.
Country’s confirmed cases have slightly increased to 468, 426, after authorities reported 46 new infections on Tuesday.
The report reveals a patient has passed away due to COVID-19-related complications, says the report that puts the death toll at 7,441.
There are now 118 severely sick patients. They are among more than 51, 000 confirmed active cases in Ethiopia, says the report.
It also says 103 COVID-19 patients have recuperated in the past 24-hours, pushing the recovery total, so far, to more than 409, 900.
