APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Undisclosed numbers of civilians were killed in air raids on Debreberhan and Gonder cities in Ethiopia’s Amhara region, APA can report on Monday.
The intense artillery and drone bombardments which were carried out by forces loyal to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s regime comes after the Fano Fighters were advancing to take full control of Debreberhan, one of the biggest cities in the region.
“The drone attacks left death of undisclosed number of civilian and significant damage to properties,” Eyewitnesses confirmed to APA.
The situation has escalated to an all-out war, as Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s regime intensifies its military actions against the Amhara region.
Notably, this is not the first time such violence has occurred in Ethiopia. Two years ago, Abiy’s regime launched a similar war in Tigray region, resulting in the loss of many lives and the displacement of over a million people.
The government has declared the war in the Amhara region, escalating the ongoing ethnic violence that has plagued Ethiopia for the past five years.
Since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed came to power, Ethiopia has witnessed a series of systematic attacks on the Amhara ethnic group, particularly in regions like Oromia and Benishangul-Gumuz, as well as the capital, Addis Ababa.
The relentless aggression against the Amhara population has resulted in hundreds of thousands of civilians being attacked, displaced, and murdered, with many of the victims being buried in mass graves.
Recently, the situation has reached a breaking point as the government launched a full-scale war on the Amhara Region, taking measures such as shutting down the internet to control the narrative.
