APA-Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) Ethiopian Airlines has celebrated its 78 years of flying, by paying tribute and conducting a special flight to Cairo, Egypt.
Group Chief Executive Officer Mesfin Tassew and Chief Commercial Officer Lemma Yadecha on Monday accompanied the crew on the special flight.
All executives at the Ethiopian airlines have also taken a hands-on approach to the service, personally attending to the needs of the airline’s customers.
“This event symbolizes our unwavering commitment to our passengers and our belief that true leadership lies in serving others first,” Group CEO Mesfin stated.
The Cairo-bound passengers also received Seasons Greeting Packages and Happy Fasting Messages, as well as complimentary Wi-Fi.
“By stepping into the roles of our dedicated ground and flight crew, we honor every individual who has been part of our story,” Group COO Lemma said.
In its seventy-eight years of operations, the Ethiopian national flag carrier has become one of Africa’s leading carriers.
“Our mission extends beyond transportation,’ said Lemma. ‘We strive to foster a sense of unity and belongingness among our passengers, regardless of their background or belief.”
The Airline now boasts of commanding the lion’s share of the African passenger and cargo network, serving more than 150 destinations across five continents.
“From our humble beginning back in 1946,” Group CEO Mesfin said, “we’ve come to be the aviation giant in Africa that we are now, pioneering African aviation with many first aviation innovation introductions to Africa along the way”.
Ethiopian is the first airline in Africa to own and operate most of the aircrafts in its fleet, involving Boeing 737s, 777s, 787s, Airbus A350-900 and Bombardier Dash 8-400 double-cabin.
“As we are maturing beautifully, our commitment only gets stronger,” the Group CEO said.
