In partnership with Boeing and Think Young, the airline has successfully concluded the second edition of its STEM School program, empowering a cohort of 28 high school students with essential skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
The program, which spans three years, is designed to provide underserved youth from various regions across Ethiopia with the opportunity to excel in STEM education. Through a rigorous selection process conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the most promising students are identified and given the chance to participate in this transformative experience.
“By investing in the education of our youth, we are investing in the future of Ethiopia,” stated Mr. Mesfin Tasew, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines. “This program empowers the next generation of innovators and problem-solvers by equipping them with the essential skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.”
Kuljit Ghata-Aura, President of Boeing Middle East, Türkiye, Africa and Central Asia, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the program’s impact on students’ lives. “The STEM School’s meticulously designed training program delivers a life-changing experience for students. It combines Boeing’s global expertise in aerospace, Ethiopian Airlines’ legacy as Africa’s leading carrier, and Think Young’s innovative approach to education.”
Delila Kidanu, Director of ThinkYoung Africa, expressed her satisfaction with the program’s outcomes and the partnership with Ethiopian Airlines and Boeing. “Returning to Ethiopia to meet new students and reconnect with students from last year has been incredibly fulfilling,” she said. “We are proud to support the future generation of STEM champions in Ethiopia and Africa.”
As the STEM School program continues to grow and evolve, it remains a testament to Ethiopian Airlines’ dedication to corporate social responsibility and its vision for a brighter future for Ethiopia.
